Arrival
On the day of your arrival we plan to meet you when you come on the property. If you are running late or need assistance call or text 314-974-6900.
Animals
Out of respect for all of our guests we ask no animals be brought on the property.
Hermitage furnishings, what you will find when you stay
All of our hermitages are simply furnished inside with a bed, desk, lamps, rocking chair, bench, and outside with chair and small table. There is a personal shower, toilet and vanity. Each hermitage also has a kitchenette with small refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster, eating utensils, plate, bowl, cup, drinking glass, and dinnerware. Ground (regular) coffee, sugar and powdered creamer, coffee filters, salt and pepper, and wax paper are in the kitchenette drawer. Other items found in in each hermitage include: Catholic Bible, Catholic Psalms, umbrella, flashlight, clock with alarm, unscented candles, tissues. Included are bed and bath linens (pillow, blanket, comforter, fleece throw, towels), liquid hand soap, and cleaning supplies (Dawn for dishes, shower spray cleaner, Windex window spray, toilet bowl cleaner, paper towels.)
Food, clothing, personal items for your stay
Guests bring their own food for their overnight stays. Food is not available for purchase on site. It’s best to bring simple, prepared foods and snacks eaten room temperature or warmed in the microwave oven. No foods with strong odors, please. A Sav-a-lot is a mile away and carries all the basics. Some guests shop at larger food stores located about 15 minutes away before or after they arrive.
Bring comfortable clothing for indoors and outdoors. Sturdy shoes are recommended as our drive and paths are gravel.
Also bring personal items and meds that you require for your stay.
Access to hermitages
Vision of Peace is located on a high bluff above the Mississippi river in a rustic, heavily wooded area. Our drive and paths around the property are hilly. Access to the hermitages includes gravel paths and steps. There is no vehicle transport around the property. Access from the parking area to the hermitages is by foot. This means carrying luggage and other items. It’s best to leave roller bags and coolers at home or in your vehicle. Pack light! Bring less!
Fees and how to pay
The fee for a night or day stay in a hermitage is $50. The weekly discount rate (7 days, 6 nights) is $250. A hermitage may be reserved for use during the day at the same $50 rate.
When we receive your reservation request, we will email you a confirmation with the name of your hermitage, the fee amount for your stay and more information.
